If Only It Was This Easy
Vivienne has had a few bad nights as far as sleeping goes. On Wednesday night, she woke up with an ear ache that kept us all up until 2am. On Thursday night, she woke up with a (suspect) toothache. For the record, she is better now.
I just asked her if she felt better this morning and her responses are always amusing and somewhat insightful.
Me: Vivienne, do you feel better this morning?
Vivienne: Yes, my tooth feels a little better.
M: You know, my tooth hurts a little, too.
V: I bit my tooth and that is why it hurts. Last night, I put my one tooth on my other tooth and bit down. It hurt, so I drank some water but it didn’t help. Then, I put my blanket on my cheek and even that didn’t help!
M: Really? Your blanket didn’t fix it?
V: No, it must be broken.
Vivienne’s blanket is a pink striped blanket with silly drawings of space-like animals on the other side. Phil and I bought it for her right after she was born on our first trip without her (which I believe was the day after she came home. I was afraid I would never leave the house without her if I didn’t just get it over right away.) She has loved it ever since. Had I known it had special powers, I would have bought more than one.
When she had her ear ache the night before, I would watch her, half asleep, wrap it around her head to try and make the hurt stop. How I wish all I needed was a blanket to stop all of my aches and pains.
