Catching up: Anniversary

Phil and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary on January 11th. On Jan 10th, I went out with friends and at 10pm, realized that my anniversary was tomorrow. At 11pm, I arrived home to find wrapped presents on the kitchen counter. D’oh!

Phil, being the lovely woman I married, bought me a set of stacking mugs for my Senseo coffee maker (so we could feel all European and shit) and a new shower curtain from Crate and Barrel.

Then, the next morning, I got a lovely bouquet of Gerbera Daisies from Organic Bouquet. (Sadly, they lasted 24 hours before one by one, they started dying off. I contacted the company, which sent me not one, but two replacements. I highly recommend them!) Of course, I jetted off to Target and found some very cool gifts for him, including a bitchen Automoblox car and some desert bars.

It isn’t that we don’t love each other as much or that we don’t hold each other in as high of regard as we once did, we are just so darn busy with normal life. While we didn’t make a big deal of it, we didn’t go out and have a romantic dinner, etc, we still managed to honor what we have by just recognizing it. I like it better that way.

Oh, and when I called Phil at work after the flowers arrived, to ask him if he had done something wrong or needed to confess something, he just told me honestly that he had forgotten which holidays we buy for and which we don’t. He then proposed that I keep these gifts ‘in reserve’ for the next one he might forget.

No problem, dear, no problem.

Vivienne the Ballerina

Ever since last summer, when Vivienne was a few of her friends dressed in ‘ballerina outfits’ getting ready to go to class, she has begged to take lessons. So finally, after hearing this for almost a year, I decided ti sign her up for a quick 6 lesson course to see if she really would participate.

Since I was infected with some satanic virus, Phil had to take her. Much to my delight, he took the camera and stole a few quick shots and 2 really sweet movies. I am unsure if it is the residual sickness, but I get weepy each time I see these videos.

Welcome to My Sickbed

No joke. I am not doing so well. In seeing how wonderful of a host I can be, an unknown virus has taken up residency.

I have been in bed from 2pm on Friday until this afternoon, when I boldly decided I could take no more and have been in the family living area for a good 4 hours.

Our local Patient First declared it not the Flu, not Strep, and not pink eye. However, it seems to be some ultra-virus that wants me to feel the pain of all 3. Here I sit with 2 bloodshot and puffy eyes that water all hours of the day and night and get crusty on the off chance that I am allowed to sleep for more than 20 minutes at a time. My nose cannot decide whether to run, clog or feel dry as a bone. My throat is in the process of slowly turning from a pit of firey glass to that of a boa constrictor in mucle tension and ache.

Had enough? How about not giving my brain the 15 minutes I need a night to quiet down and burn out before shutting itself off and allowing me to sleep. Nope, not gonna happen. This will be night 3 where I wake up at least once an hour (my max has been 30 times and yes, I counted all of those).

I know I am whining. I know I am complaining. I haven’t felt this bad in a long, long time. (I am thinking 1990-ish and my one week bought with Chicken Pox). I assume at this point there is no where to go but ‘better’, you know?
