Impending Birth Update
I haven’t given an update on me and this tiny human keeping me company as of late, so I thought I would share with those who keep up with Phil and I via the blog.
Baby is fine and dandy. He is approximately 7 lbs by now. He likes to kick me internally right in the crotch and takes great pleasure in shoving his big ol’ football shaped head up into my ribs. He doesn’t feel it necessary to turn over, head down, like all the other babies. Yes folks, I am afraid this one is going to be just like me. I opted not to force him into place by having my OB try and turn him the ‘right way’. I wasn’t so much worried about something bad happening, I just recognize in this child that maybe he is being stubborn and a little too set in his tiny ways. So I can see being able to turn him only to have him flip right back (all the while flipping me off, I am sure).
We are just playing the waiting game now. My blood pressure is elevated which is not a good thing. We are watching it for a week now, hoping it is just a fluke and I can hold on another week or two. I just want to make it through Christmas. To add some insult, I have to do a 24 hour urine collection where I pee into a jug for that time. Whoopee! Nothing is easier, as I am sure you can imagine, than a large pregnant woman hovering over a jug on the toilet catching pee. Nope, simple as pie. In truth, I like having a jug of pee around to torture Phil with. Maybe it can be my new habit, just like Howard Hughes!
When the time does come, you can be sure that Phil will be posting something on the site, emails will go out and a lucky few will be called. Depending on what happens, we hope to have a good 24 hours in the hospital without guests to get to know our new son, to introduce the big sister and give me time to heal before I have to be cordial. So if you are in the area, please call Phil to check in before just popping over. Of course, anyone showing up with ice cream can immediately gain entrance. When the ice cream is gone, you will be asked to leave.
Happy Christmas to all!

Ice, Ice Baby
I know I must be starting into the home stretch of this pregnancy because I am officially craving ice. In fact, I just spent a good 3 minutes with the freezer door ajar, eating the ice chips from the bottom of the ice cube holder.
If you remember back a few weeks when Phil won the Husband of the Year Award for taking meat tenderizer to ice cubes and making some crushed ice for me when I was sick. Later, he came clean and confessed that he just liked hitting things with that metal hammer.
I am crazy for crunching on ice. I even get excited when I realize that the ice in my glass has crossed over from the “crunch this and break a tooth” consistency to that sweet “crumble in your mouth” feel. See? I am nutso.

Baby Pool - Your Last Chance
I thought I would give everyone one last chance to either vote or change your initial guess in our baby pool.
Since we first put up the link, we have announced that it is, in fact, a boy. We are also keeping the name a secret, because it is more fun for us that way (and infinitely more annoying to those who feel they have a right to know—haha!).
If you would like to chime in on a name guess, please feel free. However, even if you get it, be warned that you won’t know until we announce the birth.
For good measure, here is the latest big ol’ pregnancy photo.

The Glamour of Pregnancy
Another photo by Vivienne
For those of you that don’t know me well enough, I am a member of a message board of 60 women who all have kids born in June 2003. I have already made this confession to those 60 friends so I figured there was nothing to lose on here. I even asked Phil if it was ok to post this because I seem to lack that last hurdle of “should I or shouldn’t I?” when it comes to telling things that others wouldn’t dream of.
So, I have been battling this cough which has made it hard to keep on a dry pair of pants for 3 weeks now. Yes ladies and gentlemen, Pregnancy makes you wet yourself on a regular basis. Under much sadness, I bought Poise pads at Target and gave them a try this weekend. So far so good (even if I feel like an old woman in a diaper).
However......
I have been wearing thongs for about 10 years now. (Ahh yes, loving that visual, aren’t you??) The only time I have not is the two weeks after Vivienne was born. And that was really only out of necessity.
So, I found it impossible to keep the “pee pads” in place while wearing (even the fat girl version of) the thong. I cracked out those big ol’ underpants and have been wearing them for 3 days. They are ridiculously humorous and if I had no dignity and no sense of embarassment, I would take pictures. Thank goodness that I have a healthy dose of both, for all of our sakes.
The really sad part? Phil thinks that they are ‘cute’.
